Powderpigs has developed a Health Protection Plan to ensure that its students, families and employees remain safe as restrictions for outdoor recreation and sports ease during the COVID-19 pandemic. These policies and procedures are based on current information and guidelines from State and Federal agencies and in conjunction with guidelines from the Summit at Snoqualmie. This plan is reviewed on a regular basis and updated as guidelines change. (Last updated: 01/28/2021)

How to Contact Powderpigs about COVID-19

This season our COVID supervisors will be Jennifer, who is a licensed nurse and certified COVID supervisor; and Isabella who works as a COVID supervisor for Seattle Public Schools.  We have created a dedicated COVID email for families to use to confidentially notify us should a student or member of the household have a known or potential exposure.  Should this occur, please email covid@powderpigs.com and provide the following:

  1. details of the exposure or positive test,
  2. date of symptom onset,
  3. date of positive/negative test, etc.

This will help us track things, allow us to advise your family on how to proceed, as well as do any necessary contact tracing or notifications to classmate families.

COVID-19 Policy Reminders for Families

  • Do not come to lessons if your student(s) or someone in the household is experiencing ANY of the following symptoms: Fever (>100.4F) or chills, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle or body aches, new loss of taste or smell; or two or more of the following symptoms: Congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cough (new, changed or worsening), headache, fatigue, or sore throat.
    • Students that come to lessons experiencing these will not be allowed to participate in lessons.
  • Masks are required at all times outside of the pigpen, during lessons and on the chairlift.  This is the case for all staff, students, parents, and parents participating/helping in lessons or as a chair rider.
  • Masks should be double layered.  We strongly recommend surgical masks, KN95, or KF94.  Professional masks (ex: Outdoor Research) with changeable filters are also an option.  Fleece or thin gators are not an effective way to protect oneself or others from COVID.
  • If a mask gets wet it should be changed, so please bring spares for the whole family!
  • Social distancing should still be practiced when waiting to use the restroom and outside of the pigpen.
  • The Area has resumed full lift loading this season.  Powderpigs will be trying our best to keep classes together as a “pod” to reduce potential exposure from people outside of our school.  While this may not be possible at all times, please know our instructors are trying their best to not only protect your student but also ensure a fun learning experience.
    • We are trying to find “riders” for our youngest students who will commit to wearing a mask and assisting these students on and off the chairlift.  We are not sending students up with unmasked people in order to protect our young students.
    • If you are interested in assisting with being a “rider” please sign up below.
