Check back here Friday afternoon for ANY final words!

REMEMBER YOUR SEASON PASS!!!!!

Here's the news for 3-3-2010

Abstract:

  • the weather is mellow and it snowed for awhile last night.  So, be sure to come prepared for possibly damper conditions this weekend !

  • No Level I clinics for ski instructors this week in favor of the Bark Ball.

  • Saturday night dinner will be served by the Alpental ski patrol in the annual fund raiser at Alpental.  We will be heading over at about 5:30ish.  Anyone not joining us for this event will be on their own for dinner, so be sure to bring your own dinner!  The spaghetti will not have any milk products in it - so it is a safe meal for those who might be lactose intolerant.  Just  in case you are interested!

  • Remember your season pass - (or prepare to hike to get your "one time only" ticket over at the Season Pass Office).

  • Put your name on all your belongings - or be prepared to loose them!

  • Please don't park in condo parking!   The condo people say thanks for your help with this!

We had another beautiful weekend of lessons with only a few showers on Saturday and nothing but blue skies on Sunday.   Now just about all our Powderpigs have fledged out of the infamous PIT and up onto the hill!  Even those whose journey to the chair lift was a little more of a struggle than others.  Congratulations to their instructors and again, a great  big thank you to all of you who have older students who have made it a practice to swoop down to Pig chair on your way to other chairs and runs and  volunteered to ride up with our little ones.  At this time of year, it gets very difficult to find reliable chair partners for each of our youngest students who are now able to ski on Pig but who desperately need a good solid chair partner for the exciting ride up the chair.  Since the Area curtailed the tickets for chair riders program, this has become an even bigger challenge.  Younger children do not wait in long slow lines very well and so the challenge is on!  Many parents very generously offer to ride up with students who need partners - but all too often, it is difficult to coordinate available riders with the timing of the classes as they come down the hill at their own rate.  So, thanks to all of you who swoop down Pig and arrive at the bottom and offer to help with being a rider!

Remember, this Saturday night (March 6)  we will all be trooping over to the Bark Ball at Alpental and will let the Alpental Ski Patrol feed us!  All in a very good cause.   Just remember to bring a $6 contribution to cover your spaghetti dinner and come on over.  We will be heading over at about 5:30-6 PM so we won't have to stand in line too long (although it is a very entertaining line).  There will be a fun silent auction with lots of good stuff in it and you can get a nifty BARK T-shirt to help support the training of the valiant dogs and their handlers who have been training so hard in order to know how to come get you if you get stuck in an avalanche so that they get continued training.   Remember there is a Powderpig in the BARK crew - Tippi, who often is running around in the Pigpen with her work vest on.  Tippi belongs to Elon and his parents, Keegan and Aaron.  For official information on this event, please see the posters on the door just to the right of  "command central" or go to the Summit at Snoqualmie's web site where there is no doubt more detailed information.  Tippi is on the posters as well.

So, that is about all the news for this week.  See you this weekend!

Do check the Pig Phone  (425 392 PASS(7277) Friday afternoon after 4:15 for any late breaking news and if you come up on Saturday or Sunday, check the Pig phone after 8:15AM.  We will announce any schedule changes on the Pig Phone as soon as we have enough information to make them, if it becomes necessary.  Very last minute changes will be announced only on the Pig Phone - 425 - 392- 7277 - so if, on the way up, things get to looking "a bit much" - just call the ski school number 425 392 PASS (7277 ) from your cell phone.   You can leave any news from the road on conditions and situations in a message.  Thanks!

COME PREPARED!  Remember to bring your lunches and what you want to drink!  You will need plenty of fuel to keep you going on this eighth (seventh for Saturdays)  weekend of lessons!!

COME PREPARED FOR ALL KINDS OF WEATHER.  Layers are best!  Rain gear could  still be very appropriate.

REMEMBER YOUR SEASON PASS –Although the one time only program is still in effect – it is all computerized and they know when you get your ONE time only ticket.  After that there are no more tickets.    The Area cut back on the comp ticket program for all the ski schools – comp tickets  really do no longer exist!  Just another little sign that our economy has been challenging since last year.  The Area is doing its level best to make it through these challenging times and we want them to!  Another area owner we do not need!!

INSTRUCTOR MEETING TIMES!  There is a lot of important information to cover again this week - so please be on time!!!  Friday evening meeting on instructor floor for ski instructors begins at 6:30 PM sharp!  If you must be late please email us and let us know.  Saturday and Sunday ski instructor meetings begin at 10:15  AM on the instructor floor.    Snowboard instructor meetings - will meet in the kitchen  - 6:30 PM ON Friday evening and 10:15 AM on Saturday and Sunday.  See you all then if not before!

THE NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT'S GIT DOWN GRIT DOWN!

SATURDAY,  MARCH 6TH IS

ALPENTAL NIGHT

so

Bring your favorite  $6 FOR A DELICIOUS SPAGHETTI DINNER

AND LET THE ALPENTAL PATROL SERVE YOU DINNER!

Remember, the Bark Ball will take place after dinner -

and before that, the auction in support of the Avi pups.  You can also purchase a fine BARK T-SHIRT - proceeds of which will also help support the training the avi dogs must have in order to

haul us out from under any avalanches

under which we might find ourselves.

So, plan on joining us for this annual adventure!

We will head out for Alpental earlier than we did last year, so that we don't have to stand in line as long as we did.  Although it really is a very entertaining line and you end up seeing just about everybody you know.  Probably at around 5:00 or 5:30 pm.

Before you pack up and head for the mountain, be sure to check back here to see if there are any changes in our schedule.    Looking forward to tasting your favorite baked potato topping!  See you this weekend.

REMEMBER!   Do not leave anything in your vehicle you would like to take home with you at the end of the day/weekend.

If you have questions, just send them right to me – thinksnow@powderpigs.com
