weekend had everything in it, especially sunshine, and it was a great weekend for
the conclusion of lessons. Everyone seemed to go home with a big smile
on their face. Thank you all for that!
This coming Saturday,
March 29th, is the year end celebration for the staff so, come on up!
Our year end celebration is traditionally a visit to New Orleans via a
traditional Louisiana Boil- which happens at about 5 PM. Many
people come up earlier in the day to ski at Alpental and at Central. It
is a fun day. See below for directions about what to bring for the boil.
After the boil, we will have the annual, traditional 2x4 awards, and weather
permitting, our newly traditional modified bonfire in a bowl. If you
have nominations for these awards please send them to Nancy at <firstname.lastname@example.org>.
all nominations are welcome.
This Saturday is the
Boil Master Mike
will be at the helm, once again!
each participant, please bring: 2 lbs of
frozen Shrimp - Raw, tail
on, 31-40 count. Costco has VERY good deals on 2
lb. bags of RAW, TAIL ON "31-40 count" FROZEN shrimp.
Safeway also does a very good job. This
is the only way we know of to be sure to have anywhere near the right amount
of shrimp. We will provide the rest of the accoutrements for the boil. If you
are not fond of shrimp or spicy food, bring what you would like to throw on
the BBQ. We will have that fired up just in case. One more thing –
please bring whatever you would like to drink. We will have sodas for the kids
(of all ages), but if you would like anything else, please bring it! This is a
so you will have exactly what you like" affair. Please make sure the state
of Washington agrees with your choice of beverage. Bring your sleeping
bag if you are going to drink the "big people" stuff. Questions? Email Nancy
It is time to take
all your beloved belongings home with you.
You may NOT leave anything up here after this coming weekend. Do not
plan on coming up later to get your stuff. We will probably not be here
to let you in to get it. Stuff that is left, will be donated to
Good Will. So, don't get mad if your skis or board is/ are gone because
you didn't take them home with you at the end of the season. The
Area insists we clear everything out the Pigpen at the end of the season and
they have already reminded us of this, this year. This year they sounded
extra serious about it and, because of this, we must be too.
It is hard work to clear out a bunch of other people's belongings from the
Pigpen - when they just get left behind. I don't have that kind of
energy this year, so please, remember to take it all home with you!
Thanks in advance for your help with this. Oh, and in case you decide to
donate your stuff, Good Will thanks you for your kind donations! Good
Will appreciates your kind generosity.
ESPECIALLY AT THIS TIME OF YEAR: IT IS
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER!
ever leave anything you want to be able to take home with you in your car.
Not even for a few minutes. There are nefarious individuals who haunt the
parking lots looking for gear and electronics, $$ and credit cards to rip
off. Especially at this time of year. In this tweaky economy, I
expect these entrepreneurial wanna bees who used to mess with us so regularly,
will probably reappear to try to harvest us again. So, please don't leave
anything in your car - hidden or not (they know how to find your treasures!)
You are now forewarned - again!
